Hi everyone,

This is a piece of the Prologue from the "Novel" I'm currently working on. Feedback welcomed.

Prologue: Sylas

On the tenth day of the sixth cycle of the Nethermoon; in the first subyear in the Age of Ashenwood, the sun shone brightly over the continent of Ner-es-Throka. The Fey gather in the valleys of the Mourning Wood-celebrating the Summer Equinox. The humans quickly gather in from the villages of the north and the south, joining their ancient brethren on the fields to dance in ecstatic frenzy. High flames rush up from the Ley Lines of the earth-illuminating the Mourning Wood in beautiful swaths of blazing blue and white flames. The magical embers dance throughout the trees, sparkling in and out of focus as they fade away. The Elven Channellers swirl the flames around in glorious arcs, their radiant forms shimmering as they intertwine amongst each other-forming sigils of unity in the crackling air.

The Human and Elven children run-weaving in and out of the jovial happening; their games remaining unfettered by the adults nearby. Amongst the enter-weaving children is one Elven child that sits alone. He stands out from all of the rest; his skin-slightly tanner, dark black hair replaces the familiar white-blonde of his people, and his piercing crimson-red eyes make him almost menacing at first glance. An air of melancholy rests above him as he sits alone, watching the other children as they play.

The adults pass him by; most ignoring him-others looking down briefly only to scoff at him before they continue to walk by. The young boy stares off into the distance-detached from the splendor of their world-absorbed completely by something just out of reach that he was yet to discover. And at that moment-at least in his childish mind; it was as if Sylas stood at the zenith that is The Apex of Deus-looking out over them all and into some greater truth. "So small," he thought to himself, "So small."
